The French Ricard 45 Pastis de Marseille was invented in 1932 and tastes similar to an ouzo. Or a spirit with aniseed or liquorice flavor. Ricard is not drunk pure, but preferably mixed with cold non-carbonated water. With his taste, Ricard reflects the French way of life and the mood of Provence. The Ricard 1 liter contains botanicals, similar to gin. Licorice juice, star anise and aromatic plants from Provence are combined in this taste. If cold water is poured on, the color changes to a milky yellow. (Louche effect) The French drink Ricard with one part Ricard and five parts cold water.
