The first bottling of this particularly strong version - Cask Strength Batch 1 - was handpicked by Master Blender John Campbell and his team and bottled at 60.1% ABV. The whiskey was matured in first fill casks that previously contained bourbon and Oloroso sherry. These casks interact particularly well with the higher alcohol content, enhancing the fruity, nutty and grainy flavors typical of the Lochlea style.

Cask Strength Batch 1 initially impresses with a concentrated fruit note that develops into gentle cigar notes and aromatic coffee beans. The flavor continues to develop with the signature Lochlea fruit, hints of Brazil nuts and finishes with a tangy orange syrup blended with aged oak shavings.
