The name “Quarter Cask” refers to the special method of maturing this whiskey. After an initial phase in conventional oak barrels, the whiskey is decanted into smaller quarter casks. This special maturation with enormously more contact with wood gives the Laphroaig Quarter Cask a rich variety of aromas.
