Elements 1.0 presents itself as a single malt whiskey with multi-faceted aromas of spicy pepper, charred pineapple and tangy licorice. This first edition of a new series celebrates innovation and creativity in whiskey making, ushering in an era of experimentation with mash and fermentation. By using two mash tun sizes and two types of wort, a complex composition is created.

As part of a new series from Laphroaig, Elements explores the different aspects of distillery production that make their whiskey so unique. Made from 100% Islay malt, the focus of this single malt is on the possibilities of adjustment during distillation, rather than on the influence of different cask finishes and maturation. The distillery team was given free rein to create something unexpected that embodies the classic Laphroaig profile while adding new dimensions.

The distillery normally uses semi-cloudy mash to achieve its characteristic interplay of fruity and smoky character. But here the team opted for a 50/50 combination of fully clear and semi-cloudy mash to take the tropical notes and phenols to new heights.
