The term 'Lagavulin' is Gaelic and means "the hollow in which the mill stands".
Lagavulin nestles in a small bay on the south-east coast of Islay and produces its complex whiskeys in pear-shaped 'stills', the copper stills.
The intensive taste of the peat can be clearly felt in these whiskeys from Lagavulin.
The maturation takes place for 16 years in American oak casks.
