Although there is no distillery at the ruins of Finlaggan Castle, this is home to the 'Lord of the Isles'. These lend their name to the fine Malt Wiyskys produced by The Vintage Malt Whisky.

Jim Murray says of the Finlaggan Old Reserve: if you don't get a bottle of this whisky, you will get it for the rest of yours regret life. In his Whiskey Bible he awards 94 out of 100 points.

Nose: Full, pungent, earthy, smoke, hint of ozone.
Flavour: Dry, smoky, fresh, clear and full-bodied.
Finish: Long-lasting, gentle , smoky, oak.

A whiskey tasted somewhere between Lagavulin and Caol Ila.
