Unofficially, the Ardbeg Distillery has been distilling since 1794 - in 1815 the distillery was bought by John McDougall and officially opened under the name Ardbeg.

"Ardbeg" comes from the Gaelic and means something like "little hill".

The distillery is located on the south coast of the whiskey region of Islay.


The Ardbeg WEE Beastie matures in ex-Bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks for only five years .
This Ardbeg was also named after a mythical creature from the peat bogs. 'Wee Beastie', a little beast native to the Scottish moors.

Color: amber.
Nose: Shiny, fresh, herbal notes, vanilla, pears, black pepper, ham, Turkish coffee, pine resin.
Flavour: Strong, chocolate, tar, Creosote tar oil, smoked bacon, eucalyptus, aniseed.
Finish: Long-lasting, salty, of cocoa and butterscotch.
