The Knockdhu distillery (Gaelic for 'black hillock Cnoc Dubh') located in the Eastern Highlands is not necessarily a term even for connoisseurs.

That may be due to the unexciting history of the distillery. The distillery has been more or less in the same ownership since 1894.
Since InverHouse took over the distillery in 1989, there has been some movement in the history of Knockdhu.

At the request of Justerini & Brooks, the 12-year-old Knockdhu was renamed AnCnoc to avoid confusion with Knockando by J&B.

By the way, AnCnoc will [a -nock] pronounced.



The 12 year old AnCnoc is an exceptionally smooth and elegant malt with only very slight hints of peatiness.

Colour: Rich gold.

Nose: Soft, hints of honey, lemons.

Flavour: Sweet, fruity, complex.
Finish: Long-lasting, soft.
