The Gentle 66 Gin from the renowned Westerwald distillery Birkenhof is an excellent dry gin that owes its convincing and gentle character to being stored in Grand Marnier casks. It was awarded gold by the Rhineland-Palatinate Chamber of Agriculture in 2016 and inspires gin fans with its extraordinary aromas of juniper and other botanicals, such as rosemary, cinnamon blossom and basil.
The gin is available neat or with tonic water or but in cocktails a fascinating pleasure.
In addition to juniper, numerous spices, roots and herbs are used for the Birkenhof Gentle 66 Gin, such as basil, ginger kumquats, cinnamon blossom, pink peppercorns, cubeb pepper and coriander. The various ingredients are distilled individually and gently, and then added drop by drop to the gin to achieve a perfect taste. In addition, the aging takes place in a former Grand Marnier barrel, which gives the gin its unique and balanced character. The Grand Marnier barrel bears the number 66, which is also reflected in the name of the unique gin.
