There have been hardly any changes since the Balvenie distillery was founded: the single malts are still produced in the traditional way today.
The Balvenie, together with its sister distillery Glenfiddich, is still independent and family-owned by its founders.

For the first time The Balvenie 12 Years Old Single Barrel First Fill was released in 2013. Before bottling, this whiskey matured in first-fill bourbon casks for 12 years.
Only 300 bottles are available worldwide. Each bottle is hand numbered and cask numbered.
