There have hardly been any changes since the Balvenie distillery was founded: the single malts are still produced in the traditional way today.
The Balvenie, together with its sister distillery Glenfiddich, is still independent and family-owned by its founders.

The 12-year-old Balvenie Double Wood first matures in bourbon casks (unverified 10 years). To perfect it, it is then matured in Spanish sherry first-fill casks.

Nose: Sweet, fruity, honey, vanilla, notes of Oloroso sherry.
Flavour: Soft, gentle, nutty sweetness, cinnamon, sherry.
Finish: Long-lasting, warming .
Royal Mile Whiskeys recommends this Balvenie with Creme Brûlée - pure heaven.
