Springbank 12 is bottled at cask strength and this is a wonderfully balanced dram characterized by a smooth, buttery body and a rich, fruity palate. Add a drop of water to release notes of milk chocolate and vanilla.
The peat influence is immediately apparent on the nose, along with initial medicinal and aniseed notes from the bourbon aging. Caramel and toffee notes add a sweet element, followed by a creamy, nutty aroma.
A soft finish with hints of ginger and lemon zest. The gentle peat smoke rounds out this cask strength whisky.
Springbank is a Campbelltown distillery that dates back to 1828 – although the town's roots go back much deeper into the history of Scotch whisky.
