The Macallan Rare Cask was released in 2014 as a new addition to the company's 1824 Masters Series with core expressions.
It owes its name to the extremely rare Spanish Sherry oak casks that are hand selected by the Macallan Distillery's Master Distiller. This specially selected oak has helped mature this single malt Scotch whiskey into an enormously complex dram, with alternating layers of fruit, sweet chocolate and smooth vanilla.
