The Tomatin Cù Bòcan Limited Edition 1990 is an elegant whiskey with fruity nuances and a subtle smokiness. This limited bottling consists of just 1,400 bottles and has a natural alcohol content of 52.9%. Interestingly, Tomatin only began distilling peated whiskey in 2005. This 1990 single malt was matured in casks that previously contained peaty whiskey, giving the smoke in this whiskey a gentler presence compared to other bottlings in the Cù Bòcan range.
How does Cù Bòcan Limited Edition 1990 taste?
Overall, this whiskey offers a multifaceted taste experience that appeals to the senses with a variety of aromas and flavors.
The nose reveals a delicate smoke, accompanied by an abundance of exotic fruits, including lychee, kiwi and coconut. You may also notice nuances of green banana and lime peel, accompanied by a hint of vanilla and the memory of old wooden chairs.
The taste is a wonderful combination of sweet orchards where apples, pears and apricots dominate. Ripe oranges mix with a touch of salt, light smoke and a pinch of pepper and peat. The taste is reminiscent of wet hay and salted caramel and occasionally shows earthy notes.
The finish is medium-long and characterized by earthy peat, smoke and charred wood. It combines with salty and spicy woody notes and leaves a lasting impression.
