Caol Ila (pronounced 'Cull Eela') is Gaelic for 'The Sound of Islay', the strait that separates the Hebridean islands of Islay and Jura.
Somewhat hidden on the rugged east coast, the islanders have been making fine smoky whiskeys there since 1846 produced.
The barley used is still malted in Port Ellen, the pure spring water comes from Loch Nam Ban limestone.
A second maturation process in a muscatel wooden cask gives this whiskey a distinctive, full-bodied fruity & complex Sweetness.
