This single malt from Ardnahoe matured entirely in a single bourbon barrel, developing its distinctive character over a period of six years. Single Bourbon Barrel #1551 was released as part of the exclusive First Generation series.

With this series, the young Islay distillery presents strictly limited single cask bottlings, bottled at natural cask strength. The whisky in the 1st Generation Single Cask series remains completely natural, contains no added coloring, and is non-chill filtered, thus preserving its original character and full aroma.

What does Ardnahoe First Generation Single Bourbon Barrel #1551 taste like? A gentle, clear smoke opens the flavor profile, reminiscent of a distant campfire. Harmoniously integrated notes of vanilla and caramel complement this, clearly present without being overpowering. Delicate honey sweetness meets fresh oak, while bright fruit notes – especially green apples – provide a refreshing contrast. On the palate, the whisky is balanced and sweet with vanilla and caramel tones, accompanied by dry peat smoke, oily grain notes, and vibrant fruit aromas. The finish is medium-long, smoky, and gently spiced with oak; the sweet vanilla and caramel nuances fade slowly and smoothly.
