Foursquare's Mystique Private Cask is an exclusive cask-strength rum that matured for 14 years in a tropical climate – first in bourbon casks and then in sherry casks. It combines intense wood and roasted notes with ripe aromas of coffee, raisins, and tobacco, complemented by red fruits, berries, coconut, and subtle caramel nuances. Despite a slight tannic bitterness on the finish, it impresses with depth, complexity, and the characteristic Foursquare style.
What does Foursquare Mystique taste like?
The nose reveals fresh red apples, baked apples with dark brown sugar, and pears poached in white wine, accompanied by fruity candies, foam strawberries, and bananas. These are complemented by sultanas, juicy raisins, and a hint of rum and raisin ice cream. These impressions rest on a base of spicy Jamaican ginger cake with treacle, fruity sponge cake, and a subtle hint of chocolate fudge cake.
On the palate, the flavor is powerful and rich. A distinct cinnamon pulse is accompanied by spicy ginger, followed by layers of cooked, baked, and dried fruits such as raisin jam, baked apples and pears, dried mango, and roasted banana. Over time, sweet flavors of toffee with molasses and slightly charred caramel emerge, complemented by subtle nuances of tar and golden syrup.
The finish is long, spicy, and rich, with the taste of treacle toffee fading slowly and gently.
