The AH Riise Distillery is located on St. Thomas Island, an American Virgin Island in the Caribbean. Before this island became American territory, it was a Danish colony.
The pharmacist Albert Heinrich was not only allowed to open a pharmacy around the 1840s, but also to produce alcohol.
The AH Riise Royal Danish Navy Strength stands for the relationship between the Danish Navy and AH Riise.
In addition to the usual payment, the sailors used to receive rum as a reward. To prevent anyone from giving them diluted rum, they used gunpowder to control the alcohol content of the rum.
They poured rum on the gunpowder and tried to light it, if it burned the rum was pure and not diluted.The Danish Navy Strength consists of various rum distillates that are up to 20 years old. It gets its dark color from the pot still process. It is hand blended in small batches and is not chill filtered.

Nose: Coffee, aniseed, liquorice, caramel, spices, cedar wood.
Flavour: Exotic, elegant, bitter orange, bergamot, fruit.
