Fifty Pounds Dry Gin is a premium London Dry Gin bottled in a beautiful vintage bottle.
In the early 18th century, gin became extremely popular in London and there were numerous black distillers in the lower classes of the population who brought gin of dubious quality to the people. In order to put a stop to this activity, the government came up with the idea of levying a tax of 50 pounds on every gin distiller in 1736. Unfortunately without success, after 6 years only 2 companies had paid this tax. Fifty Pounds Dry Gin is a memento of this attempt.
