The Botanist Islay Cask Aged Gin is a particularly elegant variation of the award-winning The Botanist Dry Gin, produced at the renowned Bruichladdich distillery on the Scottish island of Islay. It is based on the classic recipe with 22 hand-picked, wild Islay botanicals, which is then refined by subsequent maturation in select oak casks – previously used for Islay whisky. This cask aging gives the gin additional depth, harmoniously blending floral freshness with delicate herbal notes.
What does The Botanist Islay Cask Aged Gin taste like?
The nose unfolds with floral freshness, interspersed with tangy lemon zest, aromatic thyme, delicate vanilla, light wood smoke, and dry herbs. On the palate, a soft yet expressive interplay of juniper, dried flowers, oak spice, a subtle caramel sweetness, and a subtle wood structure emerges. The finish is long and harmonious, carried by warm barrel notes, clear botanical accents, and a subtle hint of salt and smoke, elegantly rounding off the tasting experience.
