What does Meikle Tòir – the peated expression of GlenAllachie – mean?
“Meikle Tòir” (pronounced mee-kuhl tor, meaning “great aspiration”) aims to create an unparalleled peated Speyside single malt. In 2018, Master Distiller Billy Walker and his team began this pursuit with the production of peated spirit.
How does the sweet peatiness get into the whisky? By using top-quality mainland peat, a gently smoky, oak-like flavor is created. An elaborate process, involving extended fermentation, meticulous distillation, and careful maturation, brings the spirit to its highest level of perfection. After years of patient maturation, the whiskies are bottled.
What do the labels on the Meikle Tòir bottlings mean? Our carefully selected earthy color palette hints at the smoky flavor profile of the whisky and was inspired by the natural landscape of the GlenAllachie Distillery: moss, oak, heather, and sky.
