Batavia Arrack is a 100% cane molasses based distillate produced exclusively on the island of Java, Indonesia, dating back to the 17th century. It consists of a very specific range of pot still distillates. It is the "Rum of Indonesia".
The fermentation process involves the addition of local and traditional wild yeast (grown on red rice). This distinguishes it from rum, although the base material is still sugar cane. The distillation of our Batavia Arrack takes place with very traditional pot stills according to old Chinese distilling methods. Our Master Blender has created an excellent product that has been aged in teak and oak casks for up to 8 years resulting in fantastically rich and deep flavors that linger on the palate.
